Cleethorpes AC 5k prom race winter series - final race

A grand finale to this excellent 5k series saw a total of 5runners complete the course in under 17minutes, making it the most competitive of the series.
Before the start of the race the sad announcement from Colin Wright was that the founding member of Cleethorpes A C Brian Jones has passed away, without the commitment of such people the successfull running club scene in this area would not have happenned.
A total of 48 runners in perfect weather conditions took full advantage of this, with many pb's acheived on the night by runners of all abilities.
Comming 1st home was Scott Mitchell (39 Leeds City) in 16m.22s, Scott completed the Lincon 10k in 34m25s and claimed 3rd position in the New Year's Day Cleethorpes 10k.In second position Richard Brown(Louth A C 16m.23) in his first 5k race of this series, and his really showing potential following some excellent performances.Richard's next race is scheduled to be the Langtoft 10k.Gavin Mann (Scunthorpe A C) claimed third position in 16m26s.
Paul Jackson (Louth A C) was 6th in 17m.06s while his fellow club member Andrew Hartley ran his best 5k of the series to claim 12th position in 17m53s, this to hold off the attention of Malcom Brine(Lincoln Wellington 18m12s)11th position and certainly a possible pb was Cleethorpes runner David Parker. 14th position and first lady Natalie Farrow (Cleethorpes A C 18m17s) still fresh from a Lincoln 10k pb.Janine Stones of Mablethorpe (2nd lady 18th overall) clocked a pb in 18m59s, this is a long line of outstanding performances of late. Also clocking a pb on the night from Mablethorpe was Ross Kew(20m.06s) When Richard Hallam of Mablethorpe competed in the series (8 Jan) he clocked 20m.09s.
In 28th position in 20m35s was Mark Lovett of Mablethorpe.
With the series now finished till November a special thanks must go to Cleethorpes A C who arranged these races and the welcomming attitude to all those concearned, and hopefully support can be shown for the Croxby races which start in May.
