A total of 76 runners entered the openning race of the excellent race series now in it's 26th year, for what proved to be glorious summers evenning.
A race with a difference and full of history, thanks to the record keeping of Colin Wright, there has been some impressive performances with course records (2lap) being held by Steeplechase International Kevin Capper, and ex Cleethorpes runner and now Bingley Harriers the impressive Lisa Mawer.
Prior to the race, Andrew Gristwood made the announcement of some up and comming local club races (Wolds Vets 3k and Louth A C Wolds Dash Series) urging all local club runners to support these races, which not only provide a good competitive race but a huge social atmosphere.
Also following the sad loss of Cleethorpes A C founder member Brian Jones last month a minutes silence was observed before the race.
Starting high on the Lincolnshire Wolds at a picturesque setting of Croxby Ponds, the course consists of a series of hills to test the strength and stamina of runners of all abilities and despite the mostly down hill 1st mile, most runners urged on the side of caution.

1st lady went to the popular Jayne White Cleethorpes A C in 31.58, Jayne clocked 34m40s in the Colin Moody 5m road race in early April.
Many of the region's recent marathan runners were out in force on the night, to name some but by no means all were Malcom Packer, Emma Benfield(Louth A C) Brian Fox(Lincoln Wellington) Nick Gregory and Malcom Simons Cleethorpes A C, all showing good signs of recovery following some excellent marathan performances.
Representing Mablethorpe Running Club was Mark Lovett (32m.26s 42nd position) in his 1st ever and all being well not his last Croxby Crawl.
