Louth AC 10 mile 2008

Les Ball of Lincon Wellington claimed top honours in the Louth 10mile road race finishing in 56m38s, on what was quite blustery conditions.
Richard Brown(Louth A.C) who is in great form, following excellent performances as an unattached runner late last year, and of course now in his Louth colours (1hr15 Seaford half) followed in 2nd place in 57.12.
With a slightly depleted mens team, no Paul Jackson, Stuart Cragg or Malcom Packer, it was left to the ever competitive Nick Marsh who came 4th 58m56s.
Finishing the course in 1hour.04.55 and 1st lady was ever the performer Natalie Farrow of Cleethorpes A.C.
It was a day however when some notable performances
were acheived by the veteran runners, not just from the Wolds Vets who yet again provided a good turnout, surely every runner who has genuine interest in the club running scene cannot fail to be inspired by their runners, not just in terms of acheivement, but enthusiasm. Wolds Vets proudly refer themselves as a social club, with a huge competitive edge.
Nigel Booth(not just a greart runner, but has been known to chat in a race with Janine Stones whilst racing though I have a feeling this was on one of those races which were treated as a training run!) not for the first time, and certainly not the last was 1st unattached runner in 1hr04m.01s.Barry Dodge who having years of experience, and still leaving many a younger runner standing 2nd unattached runner. 3rd Unattached runner was a veteran runner who commands a great deal of respect Chris Bromfield (one of the founding Louth A.C members and later Louth Harriers), not only was Chris a leading runner in this area through the 1980's early 1990's, but a runner of all distance who Mick Jagger refers to as hard as nails. When Chris competed in the Kennedy Memorial Run 52miles(Louth to Skegness and back) winning it in 5hrs 57, (Course record) he was back out racing on the Tuesday in the East Hull Harriers summer league events. Chris completed his fastest marathan time at London in 1985, in 2hrs.26m, and never finished over 3hrs is hoping to compete in the Mablehorpe Marathan.Running follows in Chris's family, his neice Bev Wilson (Cleethorpes A.C) requires no introduction.
Sorry to say, but there was no representation from Mablethorpe Running Club on this one.
