Woodhall Spa 10k 01/06/2008

 

Excellent racing conditions for this year's woodhall Spa 10k enabled several Mablethorpe runners to gain hard earned personal best times times on this flat rural course.

The mens race which saw Colin Hawkins of Derby A C take the leading honours in 31m17s, (course record?) with the previous winner in 2006 Mick Jagger in 2nd position(Lincoln Wellington) Mick who is the Lincoln Wellington record holder for male35 on the track at 5000m, and is still a firm favourite on the local club scene. Carl Ryde (Doncaster and Stainforth A C) who came 1st last year had to settle for third place in 32m.29s.The first six male runners all came home under 34minutes making this one of the most competitive Woodhall 10k's.Claiming 5th and 6th position for Louth A C were Richard Brown(33m24m) and Nick Marsh(33.59).1st runner home for Mablethorpe in53rd position was Richard Hallam in a hugely encourging time of 39m.13s,this follows some excellent performances by Richard who has now estabilished himself as a leading member at Mablethorpe. Barnsley A C member and a firm favourite at Mablethorpe Mick Casey was 1stMale60 in 40m.21s
The ladies race won in a personal best time of 37m32s by
Cleethorpes A C runner Natalie Farrow, this follows a previous pb in the Lincoln 10kof 38m.25s.2nd place went to veteran Daphne Ellmere (Wolds Vets) who shows no signs of slowing down.Janine Stones
(Mablethorpe R C) and veteran womens 3000m Lincolnshire County Championship record holder was 3rd in 39m.42s

Two further pb's were achieved today from Mablethorpe runners Ross Kew following the recent pb at Sleaford 10k clocked 40m.43s to claim 87th position while Mark Lovett who's previous best at 10k was 43m07 reduced this to 42m10s to claim 121 position.


Also out on the course for Mablethorpe were David Clarke (44m44s), Daniel Lammiman (46.31), Denzil Phillips 46m34s and Zoe Bloomfield(55m07s)
